The Rest of Bill 184 Gets a Date
The Lt. Governor has proclaimed the rest of Bill 184 as of September 1, 2021. What does this mean?
Here are a few things that are now amended in the Residential Tenancies Act:
1) s. 57.1(2) - Tenants will have two years to file applications if their Landlord fails to provide right of first refusal;
2) s.57(3) - Compensation for bad faith includes the possibility of an additional 12 months;
3) s.71.1 - Affidavit must be included on an L2 if filing using an N12; and
4) ss. 87(1), 88.1, 88.2, and 89(1) - Landlords can go back to the LTB, up to one year after Tenant vacates, for rent arrears, damages, utilities, etc.
